Christa Glennie Seychew is perhaps best known for her work as the Food & Dining Editor for Buffalo Rising Magazine, a monthly city-centric periodical with a strong web presence. During her time at BR she wrote over 300 stories about the food, markets, chefs and restaurants located within the Buffalo city limits. She established and supervised a team of interns and foodie citizen journalists, who together cobbled Buffalo Rising’s YUM channel into the ‘go to’ location for restaurant news, recipes, chef profiles and topical discussions covering issues connected to dining, sustainability and food trends. Additionally, her Buffalo Rising food-themed promotional events (Foodie Book Club, Guided Chocolate Tasting, Making Mozzarella Project and Zen of Sushi lecture) helped to propel YUM into an interactive part of Buffalo’s quickly changing food culture. In 2008, she left Buffalo Rising and went on to begin Feed Your Soul and to try her hand at food writing as a freelancer.
For the remainder of 2008 and 2009, Christa kept herself busy with freelancing, Feed Your Soul and a few other things. With a focus on food, her ramblings found a regular home in periodicals like Great Lakes Life and The Buffalo News’ bi-monthly glossy, Buffalo News Magazine (neither of which are available in digital format). She also wrote pieces for Block Club Magazine, Welcome Magazine and Edible Buffalo, among others.
Today, in addition to operating Feed Your Soul, Christa works as the Food Editor for Buffalo Spree magazine, WNY’s premier city and regional monthly magazine.
